Phillip Allen Brangers

Phillip Allen Brangers, 71, of Melbourne, Florida, formerly of Radcliff, KY, beloved husband, dad, granddaddy, and great-grandaddy, passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on January 19, 1955, the son of John and Ruth Brangers, Phillip was raised in Rineyville, KY. He attended St. Brigid Catholic School and Rineyville Elementary and graduated from North Hardin High School in 1973. A gifted athlete, Phillip loved playing baseball and basketball and proudly played on the North Hardin High School basketball team, famously known as the “Hair Brigade”.

Phillip spent most of his adult life in Radcliff, KY, where he built a life centered on family and hard work. A lifelong truck driver and owner/operator of Brangers Trucking Company, he travelled throughout all 48 continental United States and Canada. He was a mechanical genius, able to repair any car, truck, semi, or just about anything around the house. Phillip was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Additionally, his infectious grin, quick wit, and unforgettable sense of humor, often with a touch of sarcasm, brought joy to those around him.

In 2021, Phillip began a wonderful new chapter in his life when he retired to Melbourne, Florida, with his wife, Sherry, where he loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, bicycling, working in his yard, and spending time relaxing with a cup of coffee on his back porch. Quite the animal lover, Phillip enjoyed watching and listening to all the birds, squirrels, and rabbits. Over his lifetime, he never hesitated to take in any number of dogs and cats in need, most recently, Izzy, Scooby, and Gizmo.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Palm Bay, FL.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Sherry Cowley Brangers, of Melbourne; his children, Heather Carricato (Steve), of Louisville, KY, Brandy Brangers (Charles Blackmon), of Louisville, KY, Courtney Brangers (Charles Mucker), of Radcliff, KY, Phillip Wade Brangers (Michia); of Lexington, KY, and Jordan Brangers of Columbia, KY; his grandchildren, Brooklyn Brangers, Harrison and Lauren Carricato, Carma, Aubrey, and Charles Mucker Jr, Amiyah Brangers, and Charlie Blackmon; and three greatgrandchildren, Jonah, Josiah, and Infonte (who he always called Billy D.). He also leaves one stepson, Jeff Ferguson (Carrie), and three step-grandchildren, James, Dash, and Luke Ferguson; two brothers, Steve Brangers (Sandi), of Rineyville, and Michael Brangers (Mary), of Flaherty, KY; and one sister, Darlene Pawley, of Rineyville, along with hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends too numerous to mention. Last but not least he leaves behind his beloved puppy, Gizmo.

Phillip was predeceased by his parents and his wife of 44 years, the mother of his children, Charlee Wade Brangers.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, August 8, at St. Brigid Catholic Church, Vine Grove, KY with internment in St. Brigid Cemetery. A luncheon will be held following the internment at the K of C Hall, at St, Brigid Church.
