Richard Ernest Mccarthy

Richard E. McCarthy (Mac, Ace), 81, died unexpectedly on Monday morning, December 23, 2019 at his home where he lived since 2003. Richard was born March 26, 1938 in Springfield, MA. the son of Richard William, and Ruth (Ouimette) McCarthy. He was raised and educated in Springfield and was a graduate of Tech High School. Following his graduation, Richard joined the Sheet Metal Union Local #63 of Springfield MA. Of where he worked for more than 25 years of employment, until the day he retired. While working one of his many shutdowns at the Vermont Yankee in Vernon, Richard met and fell in love with Joan Gray with whom they had Thereasa. Of his pastimes and interests, he enjoyed hanging out on the West River, and or tubing to the Townshed Dam both in Vermont, while reminiscing with old friends. While living in Florida, Richard enjoyed walking; alongside his neighbor of more than 20 years; Vanessa Wagner to places like Wickham Park, Viera Wetlands, Turkey Creek, Port of Canaveral and Government Lands, Douda Lands, he also enjoyed bird watching. He also enjoyed listening to Country & Western & Irish music. While working with the union Richard was able to travel of the countryside at which he did with his partner & companion of over 40 years; Joan. Survivors include: one brother; Ronald McCarthy of Miami, Florida, his daughter; Thereasa McCarthy Clark & her husband Wayne, one great-grandson Everett McCarthy-Clark, one granddaughter, Ryeleigh McCarthy-Clark, 3 grandsons; Hunter & Justin Clark, all of Springfield, Vermont, Del Gray of Brattleboro, Vermont, He was predeceased by both his parents, and his lifelong partner Joan. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Vermont.
