Filomena Memmo Ferrara

Cocoa Beach, FL (formerly Albany, NY) – Filomena Memmo Ferrara, 96, of Cocoa Beach, FL, passed away surrounded by her family, peacefully at home on Sunday, September 6, 2026. Filomena was born in Lanciano, Province of Chieti, Italy and was the oldest child of the late Nicola and Letizia Memmo. 

Filomena came to the United States along with her husband Anthony (Tony) in 1952 to Albany, NY. She worked as a seamstress in a local clothing manufacturing shop and later started and successfully ran Ferrara’s Garage alongside her husband and sons. She raised her family in Albany and was a parishioner of the former St. Teresa of Avila Church and Blessed Sacrament, Albany and later Church of Our Saviour Cocoa Beach, FL. 

In their retirement years, she and Tony would move to their beloved Cocoa Beach, FL, where she continued her love of gardening and growing her own fruit, tomatoes, and many flowers.

Filomena is the beloved mother of Anthony L. (Betty), Nicholas (Debbie), Thomas (Wendy) and Philip (Theresa) Ferrara. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony after 71-years of marriage, and her siblings Domenico Memmo and Lina Roselli. Filomena was the loved Grandmother/Nuna of Marissa (Christopher) Lisiecki, Alicia (Dan) Campbell, Vincenzo Ferrara, Brianna (Peter) Africano, and Dominic Ferrara. Granny/Great Nuna to Aiden, Harley, Wade, Felicity, and Luca. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Our Savior Catholic Church at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, with a funeral mass to follow at 11:15 a.m. (5301 N. Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach, FL). Burial to follow at Cocoa Memorial Park and Cremation Gardens (320 Spring Street, Cocoa, FL).
