Janet Marie Neuhard
Mar 25, 1933 — Sep 15, 2025
Janet Marie (Anderson) Neuhard passed away peacefully on September 15th, 2025, in Viera, Florida at the age of 92.
Janet was born in Shamokin, PA to parents Donald G. & Hazel M. Anderson in 1933. She was the oldest of three siblings, sister Diane, and brother Donald G. Jr. She graduated from Shamokin High School and the Presbyterian School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA. Shortly thereafter she married Henry Harrison "Hal" Neuhard after his graduation from the US Naval Academy.
She worked as an RN at hospitals in Pennsylvania, New York, and Florida. She also worked as a nurse in Annapolis, Maryland. She later worked as an office manager & RN for a Podiatrist's office and a family practitioner here in central Florida.
Janet & Henry Harrison "Hal" were married for 64 years before his passing in 2020.They traveled cross country to a new duty station every few years for over 31 years with the Navy. She would prepare, organize, and pack the family & dogs for upcoming moves including many car trips to visit the relatives whether "Hal" was there or not. Statewide stops were mainly up and down the US east coast along with a couple of west coast stops in California and even a last duty station in Louisville Kentucky at the US Naval Ordnance Station before their retirement and move to Florida.
She was always busy, be it volunteering at church or elsewhere. She and "Hal" were long time, active members of First Presbyterian Church of Kissimmee before relocating to the Viera/Melbourne area. They transferred to Rockledge Presbyterian Church where her strong faith propelled her into being a Deacon and later the moderator of Deacons. She was an elder representative from the Central Florida Presbytery at General Assembly and served as Treasurer of the Presbyterian Women of the Central Florida Presbytery. She served as President of Welcome Wagon's Napa, California chapter and was a Mary Kay Beauty consultant.
Janet and Hal raised 4 children, one son, Christopher (Kathie), 3 daughters, Jennifer Winegar (Donald). Elyse Duncan (Bill) and Leigh Blattler (Robert). She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and volunteering with the Master Gardening program. She especially liked BINGO & Mahjong, playing and talking to others about her beloved dogs.
Janet will be remembered as a devoted wife and fantastic mother & grandmother. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Henry Harrison “Hal” and has 4 surviving children, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Sonata Viera & Sonata East memory care as well as St. Francis Hospice for their care and compassion.
