John B DeVincent Jr.

John B. DeVincent Jr., age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

Born on July 1, 1940, in Medford, Massachusetts, John was the son of John B. DeVincent Sr. and Mary C. (Cervone) DeVincent.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. DeVincent Sr. and Mary C. DeVincent; his brother, Frank “Sonny” DeVincent; his grandson, Anthony DeVincent; and his son-in-law, Bruce A. Herba.

John is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Joanna A. DeVincent; his sister, Rosemary Bagnell; his children, Carol DeVincent Herba, John DeVincent (Jackie); his stepchildren, Kim Brisson Lewis (Sean) and Jim Blackhall; his grandchildren, Jessica Henry (John), Daniel Henry (Aimee), Drew DeVincent (Kyleigh), Rod, Michael, and Megan Brisson; his great-grandchildren, Connor, Caden, Addison, Abigail, and Aaliyah; brother-in-law, Chuck (Michelle) Gullo; A host of nieces nephews and cousins; and his beloved little dog, Sissy.

John graduated from Medford High School in Medford, Massachusetts, and pursued his career as an electrician. He was a proud member of the local IBEW and proudly served as a member of the Army Reserves.

In 1973, after enduring too many cold winters in New England, John moved his family to Florida, where he continued his career working for Motorola in Boynton Beach, Florida, until his retirement.

After retirement, John enjoyed playing golf with his son and many friends, trips to California, trying his luck at casinos, and occasionally going to bingo with his wife. He was an avid New England sports enthusiast, never forgetting his roots, and always loved watching New England sports with his family.

John was also a wonderful cook, even at 86 years old. He was happiest when his family was together, especially for Sunday Italian dinners and holidays. His family was his top priority, and he cherished and loved every one of them. It was his greatest joy when they were all together.

John will be remembered as the strong, silent type who was always there for his family and friends, always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a great sense of humor and was always good for a laugh or two. His love, kindness, and laughter will remain in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

We find comfort knowing John is with our Lord in Heaven, and we will see him again. Until then, rest well.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 5655 Stadium Parkway, Melbourne, Florida 32940. All are welcome to attend.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lakes of Melbourne Clubhouse, 4000 Lakes of Melbourne Drive, Melbourne, Florida. Please RSVP to Carol or Johnny if you plan to attend.
