Katherine "Katie" Jane Olsen

Katherine “Katie” Jane Olsen, née Roberts, passed away on September 30, 2026, at Discovery Village, her independent living residence in Melbourne, Florida. She was 98 years old.

Born on December 25, 1927, in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, Katie lived a long life filled with curiosity, adventure, and a spirited love of competition. She was the wife of the late Ron Olsen, with whom she shared a love of travel. Katie also enjoyed traveling on her own, continuing to explore and experience new places.

Katie and Ron were members of Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, where she loved golfing. She remained in her home in Suntree until April 2025, when she moved to Discovery Village.

An avid reader, Katie was always immersed in a book. She loved playing cards, and her competitive spirit extended even to video games. Whether exploring a new destination, turning the pages of a good book, or playing to win, she brought enthusiasm to the things she enjoyed.

Katie is survived by her sister, Mary Lemke; her three sons, Gary (Elise), Randy (Sue), and Jim; her seven grandchildren, Ryan (Hayleigh), Kyle (Leslie), Sean (Kristine), Rob (Jackie), Kristen (James), Alison, and Michael; her eight great-grandchildren, Clara, Russell, Jack, Lucas, Andy, Charlie, Hunter, and Tatum; and her two step-great-granddaughters, Shaylah and Tyler.

She will be lovingly remembered for her adventurous spirit, her love of reading, and the lively determination she brought to life.

Services will be private for the immediate family.
