Linda Louise Brothers

Aug 21, 1945 — Sep 5, 2026

Linda Louise Brothers, 81, of Viera, FL, passed away from a ruptured aortic aneurysm on September 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of family. Born in Proctor, Vermont, she was the daughter of Charles and Louise (Philips) Sanderson, and elder sister to Martha Blondin.

Linda graduated Valedictorian from Proctor High School in 1963 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Connecticut in 1967. During high school, she met Francis Brothers at the Proctor ice rink, and they married in 1968 at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Rutland, Vermont.

The couple lived in Burlington for several years before returning to Rutland, where Linda worked at Rutland Regional Hospital. She and Francis welcomed two children, Michael and Kristen, and their family settled in Essex Junction. Linda worked as a Patient Care coordinator at Immediate Health Care while she raised her children and enjoyed life in the community.

Above all, Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found her greatest joy in the people she loved. When she and Francis moved to Florida in 1999, she quickly built a new chapter of friendships – especially through her daily pool time with “the gang.” She was a social butterfly in the neighborhood. She gave generously of her time volunteering at Weusthoff Hospital and a nearby nursing home where she made memory bears for families who lost loved ones.

Linda and Frank enjoyed many travels together. They celebrated their a 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. They made memories in the U.S. Virgin Islands and cruised with Disney and Holland America out of Port Canaveral with friends. They explored through the Rocky Mountain states. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary with a cruise to Alaska and enjoyed a final bucket list trip to England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. Their love was quiet and long-standing — built on hard work and dedication to each other.

While Linda loved sunny Florida, she always held a special fondness for Vermont - her true home - and treasured trips back to visit her daughter and share in special events with granddaughters, Madeline Louise and Alina Marie, whose accomplishments made her endlessly proud. She was also a devoted cheerleader for the bike and running races of her son and daughter-in-law.

Linda could talk to anyone about anything — friends, strangers, the person next to her in line. No one was safe from a good conversation! A lifelong crafter with endlessly busy hands, she was an avid knitter and seamstress known for her quilting, purses, and famous bowl cozies. She also enjoyed puzzles, baking, and tending to her flowers and watching the birds and critters in her yard. A frugal and thrifty Vermonter at heart, she never lost the practical, make-do spirit no matter where she lived. To Linda, cardinals were special messengers from those who had passed before us. Family and friends now feel her love and recall these treasured memories when a cardinal comes near.

Linda is survived by her husband, Francis Brothers; her son, Michael Brothers and wife Linda Anne; her daughter, Kristen Brothers; and her two granddaughters, Madeline Louise and Alina Marie. Nephews Jesse Blondin and wife Tina and sons Theo and Max, Jason Blondin and partner Dana. Sister-in-law Sharon Brothers and husband Edward Lemack. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister.

Her family is grateful for your support and asks you to share this memorial with anyone touched by her life. Please, in lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Green Mountain Audubon Center.
