Vonda Lea Phipps

Apr 9, 1935 — Aug 17, 2026

Vonda Lea Phipps was born on April 9th,1935, to Elmer and Elsie Hall, in Tioga, West Virginia. When she was in the 12th grade she moved to Baltimore Maryland, before later moving to Chicago, where she began her career performing reverse engineering on electric aircraft motors, as the only female in the company, at that time.

She later moved to Columbus, Ohio, before eventually settling in Miami, Florida, where she worked for Aircraft Armature, for more than 50 years. She was responsible for training new hires, as well as performing quality control functions.

Vonda was a devoted wife and mother, and was deeply religious, as her father was a Church of God minister. She enjoyed square dancing, playing bingo, and was a very skilled bowler. She also loved boating and fishing, and was the only one who caught a fish, while angling in Alaska with her husband and son.

Vonda is survived by her son Ronald (Janie), grandson Ryan, granddaughter Julia, stepson Mike Brickles, older sisters Madeline Blevins, and Agnes Wolfe, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, several siblings, stepson Mark, and her loving husband William (Bill) Phipps.

She will be greatly missed and will live on in our hearts forever. ♥
