Alfred George Chapman

Born March 14, 1940, Al passed away following a sudden heart attack December 9, 2012, while at home with his loving wife of nearly 51 years, Mary Lynne Chapman. He had recently been diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease but was otherwise healthy.Al was born in Seattle. He attended St. Alphonsus grade school and graduated from ODea High School in 1958. Following high school he joined the U.S. Army where he served for 4 years. He met his future wife, Lynn at Zestos in Ballard. They were the last couple married in the original St. Alphonsus Church on Jan. 6, 1962! He worked a short time at Boeing before taking interest in real estate and being taken under the wing of Chuck Sherman, who owned Pioneer Realty, in Seattles University District. It became his life-long career and he later purchased the business. He had a love for helping people find homes and investment property and was nicknamed Chappy in the real estate community. He was President of the North End Brokers Association (NEBA) in 1978.Al and Lynn had an active Amway business together that began in 1972. They met many friends while working both businesses. Al was also a devout Catholic. His faith was private and personal and he and Lynn prayed together daily before bedtime. When their children attended St. Matthews School they were very involved and were Presidents of the Parents Club. Al also made many dear friends at the Parishes he belonged to. His favorite pastime was to spend time with his family at vacation homes near Leavenworth, WA. and in Florida. Preceded in death by his mother, Gladys (Evelyn) Crisman and father Alfred. His younger brother Jack passed away this past February, survived by his wife, Chris.He is also survived by his wife, Lynn; his sons Todd (wife Cherie) and Thomas (wife Marty); daughter Kym Good (Mike Good); and nine grandchildren: Therese, Rachael, Peter, and David Chapman; Danielle, Tyler and Trentyn Good; Christina and Walker Chapman and many nieces and nephews; as well as four step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.He was known for his tender heart, selfless generosity and kindness and will be greatly missed by all who had a chance to know him.
