Amber Jean Hartlove

Age 88, of Edmonds, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Aug 6, 2011. Amber was born Jan. 13, 1923 at Sisseton, SD, to Melvin and Mabel Arntson. She later moved with her family, brother Archie Arntson and sister Gloria Harding (all deceased) to Kenmore, WA in 1937. She helped her family with a mom pop grocery store in the Moorlands. Amber graduated from Bothell High in 1941, and attended business school in Ballard before becoming a stenographer working at the Houghton Shipyard, Kirkland, for the Naval purchasing dept. It was there she meet the love of her life, Joe (Joseph P. Hartlove, deceased). Their marriage was a 54-year adventure. They raised 4 children: Janice (Don) Taylor, Joe Jr. (deceased), Michael (Judy) Hartlove and Jeffery Hartlove. They moved their family from Kenmore to Edmonds and lived there for 40+ years. Amber loved to travel with Joe and after his passing; she continued her travels with friends, keeping journals and photos of her many trips. She always loved to entertain family and friends. She was active in their church, first at St. Brendans in Bothell and then at St. Thomas More in Lynnwood. Amber belonged to: Ladies Guild Our Lady of Grace; Sons of Norway; Lynnwood Elks 2171, spouse of chapter member; Kenmore Heritage Society; USS Yorktown (CV-5) club and USS Coos Bay Club. Besides her children, she leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Branan, Shaun, Dustin Hartlove, Drew Amy Taylor, and many nieces nephews. Her beautiful smile, gracious and generous ways will be missed by all who knew her. Announcement: Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association.
