5A longtime resident of Mountlake Terrace passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on December 30, 2015. He was born to Frank Roberts and Josephine Coccia in Columbus, Ohio on January 4, 1925; he was the eldest of eight children. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served time on the destroyer USS Sterett in the Pacific during WWII. After marrying Angelina Montanaro on May 25, 1946 they resided in the Seattle area where they raised their three children, Jo Ann, Frank and Cathy.Augie, a long-time roofer by trade, would drive around the city and point out roofs that he had put on. He was very proud of his craft. He subsequently worked for Herr Lumber from which he retired.Augie was a member of Knights of Columbus for many years. He enjoyed playing sports such as softball and bowling. When you visited Papa and Nana you could be sure there would be a sports game on the TV and food on Nanas . Didnt matter if it was bowling, tennis, golf, football or basketball every game was a must.Augie was all about family and there was nothing more important in his life. He always had a baby on his papa belly and looked very content. He cherished his 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is survived by five sisters and one brother in the Ohio area.Left to cherish his memory are his wife Angie of 69 years; daughters Cathy (Rod) Bailey, and Jo Ann (Steve) Collins; daughter-in-law Sheri Roberts and brother in-law Frank Falseni. He was predeceased by his son Frank.The family would like to thank our special caregivers Helen, Blanca and Anthony, who helped Augies final days be handled with kindness, compassion and dignity.A Viewing will be held between 5 and 7pm; with a Rosary beginning at 7pm on Tues., Jan. 5 at Becks Tribute Center, 405 5 Ave. S in Edmonds. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wed., Jan. 6, 11am at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Mountlake Terrace; with Interment to follow at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline.
