Beverly Louise Rutty

Beverly Rutty, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2013. Born to Helen and Leslie Alderson on June 7, 1927 in Santa Barbara, California; Beverly grew up as an only child who brought much joy to her parents. Beverly graduated from Catholic High School in Santa Barbara in 1945 and married Lt. Arthur Schneider, a marine fighter pilot, immediately following the war. Two children soon followed and Beverly and her family travelled from a number of military assignments through the years making many friends along the way. Beverly was happy in her role as homemaker and was an accomplished seamstress and knitter, providing many articles of clothing for her family. She also volunteered her time as a Red Cross Grey Lady and later in life volunteered at the V.A. Hospital in Santa Barbara. She was also a constant support for her childrens activities. Widowed in 1961, Beverly moved with her children back to her home town of Santa Barbara. In time she met and married Maj. Edward Rutty, USMC, and with her children moved to Oahu, Hawaii where she enjoyed the Polynesian atmosphere and made many friends. In 2002 Beverly moved to Mukilteo, Washington to be near her family and made her home at Harbour Pointe Retirement Center where she resided until her passing. Beverly will always be remembered for her humor and quick wit, her open friendliness, and gregarious nature and her affinity for making friends. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her two children, Michael (Gwen) and Julene (Tom). She has six grandchildren: Genevieve, Jonathan, Whitney, Joseph, Geoffrey, and Andrew, as well as 5 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Beverlys life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, at Harbour Pointe Retirement Center, 10200 Harbour Place, Mukilteo, Washington. A Private Graveside service will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Santa Barbara, California. Memorials can be sent to the Macular Degeneration Association.
