Carolyn Mitchell Iversen

Carolyn Mitchell Iversen passed away peacefully on September 21, 2010 after a hard fought battle. Her spirit remained amazingly strong throughout her extended illness. Though Carolyns frail body was weak, she fought with the heart of a lion until God called her home. In the face of adversity, Mrs. Iversen continued to smile and maintain her incredible sense of humor. She was born Patricia Carolyn Brookins on August 19, 1938 in Huntington, West Virginia. Carolyn fell in love with the beauty of Washington State and resided in Bremerton, Washington for the past 25 years. Mrs. Iversen was an amazing linguist. She loved words and the English language throughout her life. Carolyn was a drug and alcohol abuse counselor for many years. She was an active member in AA. Carolyn was sober more than 25 years and enjoyed her friends in sobriety. Mrs. Iversen had a passion for life, and touched the lives of so many people. She always put the needs of others before her own. Carolyn enjoyed interacting with people, and never met a stranger. Her sweet spirit always shined through with her contagious smile, kindness, generosity, and words of encouragement. Mrs. Iversen enjoyed going to the mountains, the beach, working crossword puzzles, reading books, watching movies, and traveling and rock hounding with her husband. Carolyn loved and cherished her family. She was preceded in death by her mother Maxine Patricia Searls, and her father Robert Frank Brookins. She is survived by her husband Terry Iversen, Brother; James (Carol) Brookins, Sons; Michael (Dixie), Daniel (Darlene), and David (Dawna) Mitchell. Daughters; Tracey Mitchell Rose, and Rebecca (Ted) Harris Tio. Grandchildren; Brian, Ashley, Joshua, Alicia, Cale, Michael, Emmitt, Alysha, Timothy, Christin, Brandon, Grae, Keegan, Julia, Spencer, and Courtney, as well as seven great grandchildren. Honoring Mrs. Iversens wishes, a private service will be held with immediate family members. Carolyn Mitchell Iversen was greatly loved, and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace pumpkin!
