After a long beautiful life filled with faith, joy and the love of her family and friends, Catherine Hunter Johnston passed away peacefully on July 6, 2012. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Jack Johnston in 1995. Catherine was born in Edinburgh Scotland on January 13, 1915 to George and Jane Grierson. Catherine married Jack Johnston Papa Jack December 29, 1934. Jack Sr. and Catherine had two children, June and Jack Jr. They raised their family in Edinburgh Scotland. In 1955 Catherine with son Jack Jr. travelled to America to join Jack Sr. who had arrived prior; daughter June with her husband Neil (stationed in Scotland) and new baby Craig moved to the US shortly thereafter. Catherine, Jack Sr. and family settled in the Seattle area. Eventually Catherine and Jack Sr. moved to their final home of 37 years in Edmonds. Cathy also proudly became a US citizen and enjoyed her work at the University of Washington in the then all girl dorm, Hansee Hall. Catherine was loved by every person that touched her life. color: #0070c0 Catherine was a beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend. She was everyones Grandma Cathy. Many of us sharing these memories have treasured hand knit baby blankets made with love from Grandma Cathy, and enjoyed her signature trifle and sponge cakes. We were often treated to detailed, colorful stories, songs or tea readings from Catherine shared in her lovely, lilting Scottish voice. Her smile was golden. Catherine is survived by children June (husband Neil), Jack (wife Marika), Grandchildren, Craig, Norelle, Lynn, Gail, Kimberly, Maureen, Marlene, Julie and Britta. Catherine was the proud Great Grandmother of 15 Great Grandchildren; and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. Niece Moira Banks, Nephew Bruce Smith of Scotland and Nephews Jack and Marshall Johnstone of Seattle and loving friends and neighbors. We will always be touched by Catherines grace, wit, strength, humor and beauty. We are all better for having shared her life. She will remain forever in our hearts.
