July 18, 1935 — July 8, 2015
Times, Charles William Hoag, 79, passed into the next life on July 8, 2015 while at home after a long fight with heart disease. Times, Charlie was born July 18, 1935 to Vernon M. Hoag and Edith Love Hoag of Mount Vernon, WA and raised on a small country farm on the north side of town. Times, He attended Mt. Vernon High with his brothers and participated in Football, Wrestling and Baseball. He graduated in 1953. And then joined the Coast Guard for 4 years of service. He married the love of his life-Mikell (Myke) in 1956. He attended and graduated from San Jose State University in 1961. Times, Charlie was a long-time banker with First Federal of Mt. Vernon and Washington Federal of Seattle, retiring in 1990 as a Senior Vice President. Times, Charlie was a giver. Long-time volunteer with Group Health and a long-time blood donor. Much like his mother, always said yes to his kids and grandkids in times of need. Times, He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed all the major Seattle sports teams and especially U of W Football. Times, Charlie loved birthdays and holidays which were a time for family to get together and enjoy games and BBQs. Charlie was a Trivial Pursuit player extraordinaire. Times, He taught his children that quiet strength, commitment, integrity and kindness mattered in life. Times, He will be sorely missed. Times, He is survived by his sweetheart of 58 years, Mikell (Hogan) Hoag; son, Thomas Michael Hoag and wife Jessamine of Mukilteo. He was preceded in death by his daughters Susan (Hoag) Johnston and Megan P. Hoag. Charlie is also survived by his brother Neil Hoag and wife Mary, brother James Hoag and wife Susan, and brother-in-law John Petersen and wife Jan and their families. He was very proud of his grandchildren: Matthew Johnston, Kelsey Hoag Felix, Michael Johnston, Katherine Hoag Tyler and Charles Hoag II. Times, Special thanks to Group Health Hospice and their above and beyond approach to end-of-life care. Any donation may be made in Charlies name To Group Health Hospice of Seattle. Times, There will be a public viewing at Becks Funeral Home in Edmonds on Saturday July 11th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Times, Private family graveside service at Green Hills Cemetery in Burlington, WA
