Clarence Stueve

Clarence Richard (Dick) Stueve , born December 1, 1943 Dick passed away September 16, 2013 after an 8-month battle with lung cancer. Dick is survived by his wife Colleen, Mother Grace, and 6 children Sarah, Kimberly, Jon, Melissa, Colin, and Summer. He had 16 grandchildren, Tom, Nickolas, Christopher, Katie, Lauren, Brenna, Daniel, Michael, Simon, Sarina, Loretta, Reed, Nicole, Reilly, Cobie and Jocelynn. He was a loving husband and father and an incredibly caring, generous friend with a great since of humor. He was greatly respected and appreciated by his colleagues. Dick was a huge Elvis fan; he knew all the lyrics to all Elvis songs by heart. He loved sports especially Mariners and Seahawks. He was an all around athlete himself playing basketball, football and baseball in school. He enjoyed time with his family and friends and made the best pancakes for us on special weekends. Dick Stueve, RT(R) graduated from the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Radiologic Technology in 1965 and completed the national American Registry of Radiologic Technology board examination the same year. From 1962 to 1978 Mr. Stueve worked clinically with Charles T. Dotter, MD and Melvin P. Judkins, MD at the Oregon Health Sciences University and Loma Linda University Medical Center, respectively. His activities included research and technical support during the development of Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty, Selective Coronary Angiography and Intervention, and selective Neuro Angiography and Intervention. While at Loma Linda, Dick Stueve developed and administered the first national postgraduate training course for Cardiovascular Radiologic Technologists. As a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, he served as the chairman of the committee that wrote the model Special Vascular Imaging curriculum. Dick was a nationally recognized lecturer who participated in the annual Harvard Medical School of Continuing Education - Cardiovascular Image Quality symposia series. He was a consultant to the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions, (SCAI) and was the coordinator of its annual Melvin P. Judkins Cardiac Imaging workshops. From 2002 to 2008 he participated in the Philips Healthcare and Northwest Imaging Forums cardiovascular education courses. Dick was a national leader in cardiovascular IQ, x-ray dose and radiation safety issues. From January 1999 to July 2002 Dick served as the National Vascular IQ Team Leader for General Electric Medical Systems, where he managed the development of the globally adopted Image Quality Vascular Uniformity Evaluation tool. Concurrently he served on the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) committee that developed the industry standard SCAI-NEMA XR21 fluoroscopy dose / image quality phantom. From August 2002 to March 2008 Dick served as a charter member of the Philips Healthcare global Cardiovascular Image Quality Roundtable (IQRT). He was also a member of the Philips general x-ray and surgical systems global image quality teams.
