Connie Murveen Stenlund

Connie Murveen Stenlund passed away in her sleep on June 28, 2020, in Edmonds, Washington, at the age of 77. Connie was born on August 2, 1942, in Longview, Washington, to Mervin and Edith (Peggy) Stenlund. She graduated from La Center High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years. She moved back to Washington State in 1973 to be closer to her parents and raised three daughters on her own. She also stepped in and raised one of her granddaughters. While working full-time, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Oregon University and her master’s degree in Public Administration from City University. Connie felt family was of utmost importance and she was incredibly involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives and cared about each of them. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving others in any way she could. Connie coordinated the annual nativity display each year at the church and also volunteered at the church food bank and temple. She coordinated and taught a special art discovery class at the local elementary schools, Image and Orchards Elementary. She loved being in her garden and could grow anything. She was highly creative and spent many years arranging flowers for weddings and other celebrations. She traveled to several places in the country and around the world with her good friend, Claudia. They traveled to Europe many times. Later in life, she learned to quilt and made many quilts for her children and grandchildren. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Edith Stenlund. She is survived by her three children, Denise (David) Crandall, Dawn Vinberg, and Danielle Landry; her brothers, Wayne Stenlund and Barry Stenlund; her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Todd, Bradley, Nathan, Kenus, Karina, Michael, Tommy, and Arial, and four great-grandchildren. When possible, a family gathering will be held in her honor.
