Corinne Kolve Hofto passed away peacefully on March 4, 2011 at the age of 88, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Though her body had become frail with age, her humor and spirit remained strong.Born July 6, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of Louise and Ivar Kolve, both Norwegian immigrants. Her husband of 62 years, Floyd Hofto, preceded her in death in 2007. Corinne moved from Chicago to Seattle to attend Seattle University. She was a Navy Wave during World War II, and she married Floyd Hofto in January 1945. After raising her five children, she began working for the U.S. Census Bureau in 1970. She finished her work career at Sound Color in Edmonds, WA. Corinne and Floyd created a beautiful garden retreat at their home in Edmonds. She could knit and crochet the most elaborate and beautiful sweaters for family and friends. She engaged her sharp mind by reading widely, enjoying everything from National Geographic magazines to a good mystery novel. In her later years, she loved to take her corgis for walks around Edmonds. Corinne was also active in her parish with Bible study and social gatherings. She spent the past two years living at Edmonds Landing, where she made many friends and was gently cared for by the wonde staff. Corinne will be greatly missed by all who knew her for her kind and loving heart.Corinne is survived by her five children: John Hofto, Paul Hofto, Corinne Carter, Celeste Lynch and Mark Hofto; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
