Dan Lohman

Daniel (Dan) Lohman passed away on October 17, 2026, after a long and courageous fight with thyroid cancer. He spent his final day surrounded by his loving family, with his sisters singing him home to Jesus.

Dan was born in Seattle to Clyde and Carolyn Lohman and grew up in Ballard as the oldest of five children. He shared a childhood full of cherished memories with his younger brother, Gary, and three sisters, Debbie, Pam, and Becky. Their busy, close-knit family life centered on church, family, and friends.

While attending Pacific Lutheran University after high school, Dan met Charlotte Larson, who would become his beloved wife of 56 years. Their first date was over french fries and a Coke - the beginning of a lifetime together. Dan’s love for Charlotte was endless.

In 1968, Dan was drafted into the Army and served in Vietnam. He and Charlotte married in Hawaii during his R&R leave. Following their wedding, Dan returned to Vietnam, where he served with honors and received multiple medals, including Bronze Stars for valor.

After his military service, Dan graduated from Portland State University and began a lifelong career as a business owner and entrepreneur. He and Charlotte made their home in Edmonds for more than 50 years, raising their two children, Andrew and Gretchen, whom he adored.

Dan found joy in working hard and taking care of others. He treated everyone he met with kindness, making people feel welcome and cared for. He could often be found tackling projects around the house, reading a good book, or enjoying a game of tennis and pickleball. In retirement, he and Charlotte traveled with dear friends and spent winters soaking up the sunshine in Palm Springs. He particularly enjoyed annual summer trips with the whole family, especially the grandchildren.

Dan leaves a legacy of love, faith, hard work, and devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

To honor Dan, a Celebration of Life will be held on October 30th at 2:00 at Aurora Community Church in Shoreline, WA. We invite all who knew and loved Dan to join us in honoring him.
