David Cowan, Jr.

David Cowan Jr. passed away on the night of Saturday July 23, 2016 at the age of 87. He was born on October 30, 1928 in Portland, Oregon to David and Jeanie Cowan and was preceded in death by his only sister Elizabeth. Dave graduated from Franklin High School and shortly after joined the Navy in 1948. He was a proud Korean War Veteran who fought in the battle of Inchon. In 1951, he married Dorothy Hasenkamp. They had two children, Michael and Diane. He was honorably discharged in 1952 as an SK2 with numerous honors. Dorothy passed away in 1957. Dave was married to Laurann Oihus in 1958 and had three more children, Juliann, Jeffrey, and Christopher. While Dave started working in the moving business in Portland, it eventually brought him to Lynnwood, Washington where he was an owner of Merry Moving and Storage. Dave was married to Lorraine Thompson from 1986 until her passing in 2015.He was an avid bowler and golfer, loved stamp collecting and being with family. He is survived by Laurann Cowan; his five children: Mike Cowan (Karen), Diane Cowan, Juli Cowan (Keith), Jeff Cowan (Kirsten) and Chris Cowan (Sherene); ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A service will be begin at 1pm at Becks Tribute Center in Edmonds, WA on August 2nd with a military service to be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon on August 3rd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
