Dennis Michael Bruns

On Saturday afternoon March 29th, 2014 at 3:40 PM, Dennis Michael Bruns courageously passed from this world, releasing himself to The Lord and from his failing body. On a day mixed with bright sun, rain and a magnificent rainbow, Dennis is remembered as such.He is survived by Janet, his wife of 49 years, sister Sharon, brother Curt, daughter Shellene and adored son-in-law Remy, son Tim and grandsons Kiernan and Jensen.Dennis was born in Mitchell, South Dakota, in 1945 to Ken and Stacia Bruns the middle of three siblings. He moved to Seattle Washington in 1956 where he attended Shoreline high school and met his future wife. During that time he worked at his fathers Shell service station on Lake City Way as a mechanic during the hot rod revolution.At 19 years old, he married a true sweetheart and together they moved to Edmonds where they raised their 2 children and Dennis worked to provide the very best for his family and the future. When many fathers were tired from work, Dennis volunteered as a coach for his daughters sor team and for his sons baseball team. He loved his children with all he had and was a teacher at heart.After 30 years working at Shell Oil, first as a fuel delivery driver and later as a laboratory technician in Seattle and at the Anacortes refineries, he and Janet retired and moved to Lake Goodwin. It was there where his grandsons dipped their feet in the water for the first time and fed and chased ducks lakeside. He and Janet had produced the fruit obvious of a healthy tree of life and they shared it selflessly with family and friends.In 2005 they moved to Mill Creek to be closer to their children and grandchildren and spent winter months in Green Valley Arizona to enjoy the warmer weather. Memories abound from another garden they had built for family and friends to come visit and enjoy. Dennis finally indulged for himself and bought his own 28 Ford hotrod to fulfill a childhood dream. If anyone was ever wired to polish chrome and paint it was Dennis. An absolute beauty, it represented what happened when he took on a project; it would be correct and above all... clean.He spent the final years of his life watching his family grow theirs and helping whenever he could. He was as imperfect as the rest of us, with a generous and loving heart surrounded by a thin hard shell. He is loved, will be missed and always remembered.He will be honored with a service surrounded by family and friends Friday, April 4th, 2014 at Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bothell, WA.
