Dennis Stephen Mahar

Dennis Stephen Mahar, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on September 22, 2013. He was born April 25, 1941 in Walla Walla to Robert and Daphne Mahar. He graduated from St. Patricks High School in Walla Walla. He began his career with the Army Corps of Engineers in 1963. While working in Pomeroy he met the love of his life, Rose Marie Herres. They were married November 26, 1966 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Pomeroy. After several moves throughout Washington and Oregon, they eventually settled in Shoreline in 1972.Dennis was an avid reader. He also liked all that PBS had to offer, but he could not resist a good SciFi movie, all while enjoying a tall glass of iced tea. Dennis and his family regularly returned to Walla Walla to spend summers and holidays with family, where he would relax with a good game of cards. Dennis was a long-time member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Shoreline, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus.Dennis is survived by his wife Rose, his three children; Sean Mahar and his fiance Lisa, and Seans daughter Johanna; Stephanie and her husband Mike Johnson, and their children, Kayla, Laken (Victor Verdusco), Joleen, Nathan, and Lacey; and Pamela and her husband Bill Holsten, and their daughter Madison. He also has one great grandson, Victor Verdusco Jr. Dennis is also survived by one sister LeeAnn Stone, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
