Dolores Anne Curry

Dolores Anne CURRY (Donaldson), 91, passed away peacefully in Edmonds, WA on August 25, 2012. She was born March 18, 1921 in Seattle, WA, the daughter of Carl L. Donaldson and Anne Z. Donaldson, and was predeceased by her younger brother, Carl (Bud) Donaldson. Dolores was happily married to Kenneth F. Curry for 57 years until he passed away in 1995. She was mother to two sons, Richard (Sheri) and Michael (d. 1998); grandmother to Lyle (Renee) Curry, David (Trina) Curry, and Steven Curry; and great grandmother to Kenneth Curry, Gregory Curry, Delaney Curry, and Deklan Curry. Her former daughter-in-law was Rosa (Cristy) Donoso. Dolores graduated at the top of her class in 1938 from West Seattle High School. Kenneth and Dolores moved to Edmonds in 1946 where they lived the remainder of their lives. Both were active in civic and school affairs. Dolores worked for Edmonds School District for 25 years, 23 of which were in the district superintendents office working in such positions as school board secretary and district certification officer. She retired in 1979 and was honored in 1986 as a Living Legend in the Edmonds School District. During retirement Dolores enjoyed interacting socially with other retired co-worker friends. Dolores loved to travel, especially near Puget Sound or the Pacific Ocean. She and her husband also made many memory-making trips to California, British Columbia, Hawaii, Alaska, Washington D.C. and many other places, including a trip to northeast Nebraska to visit her husbands hometown and to attend his 50th high school reunion in 1980. Most of all she loved to spend time close to the Edmonds beach. She walked there almost every day and made regular observations to her family about the notable things she saw there. She loved all sea birds and enjoyed watching the ferry boat traffic and the wonderful Edmonds sunsets. Dolores loved all of her family immensely, and it was always a special joy for her to be together with them. She often prepared unforgettable meals for family occasions and was known far and wide as the absolute best maker of chocolate chip cookies, blackberry pie, and roast beef dinners. Her family will miss her unconditional love and support, her sense of humor, her charitable nature, and her strength and vitality. Her smile could light up a room.
