Dolores Murphy

Mary Dolores Murphy September 15, 1925 Dolores (Dee Dee) died Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at her home in Edmonds. She was born in Great Falls, MT to William Patrick Casey Helen (Nellie) Rafferty Casey on September 15, 1925. Dolores was the oldest and had 2 brothers, William and Patrick (PJ). She has now joined her husband Bob Murphy, brother, Bill and her parents in heaven. Dolores attended Catholic schools and was a proud graduate of Saint Marys High School in Great Falls, MT. After High School she became a radio announcer at KFBB where she did a cooking show. Dolores was set up on a blind date with Bob Murphy by friends Ted and Blanche Carpenter. They married on April 7 th 1951 at St. Annes Cathedral. Dolores and Bob moved to Seattle, WA where they settled in Lake Forest Park and became members of St. Marks Parish. Bob began working in construction with his brother in law Dick Munger of Munger Homes. Dolores had difficulties with pregnancies but finally had Nora. She was insistent on having more children against Doctors orders so Nora would not be alone. She then had 3 boys, Bob, Terry and John. Dolores and Bob built a home in north Edmonds in the early 60s. Eventually they built their dream home closer to Holy Rosary. She spent over 60 years devoted to her Parish. She was active in the Altar Society, School, Choir and attended daily Mass. Her beloved Bob passed away in 1980 after a long struggle with Cancer. After raising all four of her children she was free to travel. She loved traveling and being active no matter what it was. She spent the last 2 years battling cancer and her Faith, Family and Friends carried her through. She was especially proud of her Family. She is survived by her brother Patrick James (PJ) and his wife Betty, Sister-in-law Eleanor Casey, Daughter Nora (Carol), Sons Bob (Jeana) (Bobby and Patrick), Terry (Cheri) (Ryan and Justin), and John (Margaret). She also leaves many nieces and nephews whom she loved. She was an inspiration to many and we will all miss her.
