E. Glen Thomas

Edmund Glen Thomas, 93, a long time resident of Edmonds, passed away on Oct. 15, 2014. He was born in Snoqualmie, WA on July 18, 1921, the son of William Clarence and Iona Thomas. Glen graduated from Fall City in 1939. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Iona, brothers Clarence (Tommy) and Kenneth and sister Helen Pierce. Glen is survived by his wife, Rose (Varriano) Thomas, the love of his life, his sisters Ruth Mills and Shirley Stailey and brother Myron Thomas. He is also survived by brother and sister-in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, God-children, cousins, and many dear lifelong Friends. He served in World War II for the 615 Ordinance Armament Maintenance Battalion; stationed all over Europe, the South Pacific and at the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he settled in Kent and had a berry farm with his brother Kenneth. In later years, he was in partnership with brothers, Kenneth and Myron, as Thomas Brothers, a land development company. He was married to Rose Varriano, the love of his life, on Nov. 24, 1962. They met at the Nesco Catholic Singles Club. He built a beautiful home in Edmonds for his bride and they lived there for 52 years. Recently they moved to Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood. Glen enjoyed hunting, snow skiing, making pasta with family, raising tomatoes, spices, apples and veges, which he enjoyed giving away. He loved to tinker in his shop and could fix almost anything. Glen and Rose were the ultimate entertainers. They created many wonde memories and hosted many gatherings in their home. A celebration of Glens life will be held from 11-2 on Monday Oct. 27th at Saint Thomas More Catholic Parish, 6511 176th St. SW, Lynnwood.
