Eleanor Helen Rindal, 82, passed away on October 18, 2013 at Evergreen Hospice Center in Kirkland, WA. She was born on February 22, 1931 in Kelowna, BC to Max and Alice de Pfyffer. Helen grew up in Kelowna, BC, and after graduating from high school in 1949, she attended the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC where she received a Bachelors degree in Home Economics. She did her 5th year internship at the University of Washington where she met her husband Joel Rindal. Joel and Helen were married in Kelowna, BC on March 19, 1955. They were happily married for 58 years. Helen worked as a dietician, stay at home mom, and had various jobs in the accounting field. She retired from Eye Associates Northwest 1995. Helen was a member of the American Dietetic Association, Queen City Yacht Club, and Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She was also an auxiliary member of the Snoqualmie Pass Ski Patrol and while her children were young, served as President of the Ivanhoe Elementary PTA. She enjoyed skiing, boating, gardening and for over 25 years vacationing in Maui, HI and later Palm Desert, CA. Helen is survived by her husband Joel of Bellevue, WA; her daughter Karen Dwyer (Steve) of Edmonds, WA; her son Eric Rindal (Nicole) of Walla Walla, WA; her grandchildren David Dwyer of Mountlake Terrace, WA, and Nicholas, Peter and Andrea Rindal, all of Walla Walla, WA; and her nieces and nephews and other relatives. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Alice de Pfyffer, her brother, Ralph de Pfyffer, and her grandson, Samuel Rindal. A memorial service will be held at Queen City Yacht Club, 2608 Boyer Ave E, Seattle, WA at 2 pm on Friday, November 1, 2013.
