Long-time Edmonds resident Enid Laurene Leishman Wight passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 in Lynnwood. Deceased husband Chauncey E. Wight was the former owner of Wights Nursery in Lynnwood and the Glen Haven office park adjacent to the nursery. Enid was born in Spokane, WA, raised in Marysville, and graduated from Seattle Pacific College. She briefly taught in a two-room schoolhouse in Manchester, WA, and married her college sweetheart in 1943. She and her new husband lived a short time in Tombstone, AZ while he was stationed at Ft. Huachuca. After the war they settled in Seattle, residing there until 1960, where they were active in Queen Anne United Presbyterian and Central Presbyterian churches. Known for her singing voice and canary-like whistle, Enid was an avid doll collector, passionate lover of nature and sunsets, flower arranger, and caring mother. She is survived by brothers Roy Leishman (and Marion) of Concrete; Gil Leishman (and Moots) of Moses Lake; sons Lawrence (and Mary Ann) of Berkeley, CA; John of Edmonds; Dennis (and Penny) of Edmonds; daughter Sylvia Meyer (and Bruce) of Chico, CA; and three grandchildren: Dan, Ian, and Cynthia.
