Erma Gertrude Reid

Apr 19, 1916 — Dec 12, 2013

Mom was born in Chehalis, WA on April 19, 1916 to William Gertrude Reber. Her family moved to Seattle where she attended Webster Grade School and Ballard High School. She earned a music degree from BIOLA University in L.A. While at BIOLA, she met and later married Ransom Marvin, an ordained minister. They pastored churches in Sprague, Lamont and Spokane, WA. While Ransom was at the pulpit, Erma was always at the piano, which she loved. After Dad died in 1960, Mom taught piano lessons full-time to support her family. In 1964, Erma met and married Jesse K. Leise, also an ordained minister, and moved to Seattle. They lived in Seattle and Kenmore until his death in 1992. In 1997 Erma and Cyril Reid, a former classmate at BIOLA and also an ordained minister, were married in Seattle, WA. They lived in Kenmore, WA and Fullerton, CA until Cys death in 2000. Mom lived in her home in Kenmore, WA until she was over 94 years old. Her door was always open to her many friends and neighbors, the coffee pot was on, and if you were lucky, an apple pie was in the oven. She had a great sense of humor and her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ sustained and comforted her until the end of her life. Erma is survived by her three daughters by her first marriage: Marcia Johnson, Manon Sauceda and Marya Ferris, also step children: Jim Leise, Marion Earnheart, Dr. David Reid and Don Reid; 14 Grandchildren and many great grandchildren. We wish to thank the loving staff and caregivers at Cristwood Nursing and Rehab in Shoreline, WA for their wonderful care of Mom for the past 27 months. Your kindness will not be forgotten. Remembrances may be given to Seattle Union Gospel Mission. Announcement: Remembrances may be given to Seattle Union Gospel Mission.
