Ethan Whitwell Colombana

Our precious son, Ethan Whitwell Colombana, passed unexpectedly from seizure and previously undiagnosed heart condition on January 4, 2015. Ethan was a junior at Purdue University studying computer science. Open casket viewing will be at Becks Funeral Home in Edmonds from 4-7pm (drop in) on Thursday, January 8, 2015; with a memorial service being held at Edmonds Lutheran Church in Edmonds at 11am on Saturday, January 10. Ethan was born on October 7, 1993, the fifth of six children. From an early age Ethan excelled at breaking and then fixing family computers, destroying his teenage siblings at video games, parking match box cars in precise lines and patterns for hours; and loved, often to their detriment, the many pets in the Colombana household. At age 4, Ethan and 5-year-old Bennett Norman were forced into all activities pertaining to their sisters Girl Scouts events/meetings. Their mothers were, after all, the Girl Scout leaders. This forced servitude began what their parents deemed their brotherhood. Ethan played viola in school groups as well as several years in the Everett Youth Symphony. Upon entering high school, he discovered an affinity for acting, and acted and participated in several school plays. He decided Thursdays should be fancy, and would wear a suit and tie to schoolmany followed suit. Above all, Ethan made relationships that followed him through his short life, and we are so grateful for those whom he bonded with. He graduated from Mountlake Terrace High School in 2012, and received his certificate from the engineering program, Project Lead the Way. After high school, he enrolled at Purdue University in Indiana. He was constantly surrounded by those that shared his love for technology, and made friends easily. Ethans dorm room was the center of entertainment; there were always people laughing and playing games together on their laptops, or studying for exams together and watching shows on Netflix. Some recent memories include: this last summer Ethan picked up a 40 television screen and used it as a second computer monitor. He said tortilla, island and lasagna the way they were spelled; why would the letter be there otherwise? Thats just stupid!! He just finished his masters achievements for the Heart of the Swarm campaign for Starcraft 2. He screamed all the way to his summer classes at PLU because he hated the repetition of driving. Affectionate nicknames: Ethan-son and Man Child (mom), Hay-seuss Kreest-oh (Jesus Cristo), Etanu-kum, Trapezoid, Ethanol, Ethan-sempai, TheOverWhelming (username). Ethans Immortal Sayings: That sounds like a lot of work, and sometimes they miss, You know nothing, Jon Snow, sassy pants (his phrase for Amber), (in Gasai Yuno falcetto voice)Amber!!! Amber no Kimi!!! Why you no love me Amber?, (Eeyore voice) Nobody listens to meeeee, (beached whale call) euhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Ethan is survived by his parents, Nat and Amy Colombana, his siblings Brian (Danissa), Kevin (Bethany), Rachel (Gustavo), Camille Penksa (Tony) and Aidan, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, Nana Jill Colombana, God-parents Martin and Judy Banel, the love of his life Amber Hamman. More family and friends than can be counted. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to fund a newly formed annual $500 scholarship in Ethans name to be awarded to college bound STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) seniors from Mountlake Terrace High School.
