Frances Marie Oneil

Frances Burrus was born to Edward Verdie Burrus on Aug 14th, 1925 in Pierre, SD. She was raised on a ranch on the prairie near Hayes, SD. She attended a one-room schoolhouse through grade 8. She moved to Pierre during her high school years where she worked for her room board while attending school. She graduated in 1943, and then attended Rapid City Business College through 1945. The Burrus family then moved to the Seattle area, after the ranch was auctioned. She met Charles Red ONeil while dancing in 1945 and they wed May 24th, 1946. They shared 59 wonde years prior to his passing. She was a devoted mother to her 3 children: Michael, Patrick, Peggy. Along with caring for her home and her children she worked side by side with Red in their business ONeils Jewelers in Greenwood. She held memberships in the Lutheran Church, Emblem Club, Everett Golf Country Club, the Jackson Jills, the Edmonds Yacht Club. Retirement years were spent traveling and snow birding in Rio Verde, AZ and Cathedral City, CA. She loved to dance, play bridge, golf, travel, and spend time with her family. In 2009 she moved into the Ida Culver House in Greenwood, where she enjoyed old and new friendships. Her final few years were spent living in the Edmonds Bay Adult Family Home where she was lovingly cared for until her passing. Frances leaves behind her sister Ursie (Russell Rogers); sons Michael Patrick; daughter Peggy (Gary Shortt); grandchildren: Jennifer, Todd, Mary, Megan, Charlie; and great-grandchildren: Adrien, Rowen, Jordie, Chloe, Nolan. We will miss her infectious smile, sense of humor, zest for life, and love for her friends and family. At her request there will be a private burial.
