Feb 22, 1935 — Feb 27, 2015

Gay Shoemaker Allaiswasborn February 22, 1935 and died peacefully at home in Edmonds, WA on February 27, 2015. She is survived by David Allais, her husband of 57 years, daughter Julie Husted, sons Eric, Ralph, and Paul Allais, and brother Keith Shoemaker. She had nine grandchildren; Brian and Sarah Husted, Mark, Christopher, Eric, Ryan, Nicole, Natalie, and Lindsay Allais, and six great grandchildren. Gays lifelong love was music and particularly barbershop harmony. In 1951, she became a charter member of the Old Pueblo Chapter of Sweet Adelines in Tucson, Arizona. She was subsequently director of the San Jose, CA chapter of Sweet Adelines and performed in a barbershop harmony quartet, the Masqueraders. Upon moving to the Seattle area in 1968, she became a member of the Seattle chapter of Sweet Adelines and later the Jet Cities chapter, performing in many chorus competitions and shows. She directed a four-part harmony quartet, the Misty-Aires for many years. In 1990 Gay received an Associate of Arts Degree from Edmonds Community College with a 3.99 grade average and completed an additional year at the University of Washington majoring in English. She wrote poems for the enjoyment of family and friends, collecting them into two booklets, Thats All She Wrote and Still She Wrote. Cross word puzzles were her challenge, the harder the better. Gay and David greatly enjoyed travel while learning about the history and culture of places they visited. Greenland, Mongolia, and Easter Island were three of their favorites. Gay was a board member and Secretary of PathGuide Technologies, Inc. of Bothell, WA and a strong supporter of Seattle Shakespeare and Taproot Theatre. With a song in her heart she brought cheer to all who knew her. Gay
