Hardy passed away on January 22, 2010. He was born on June 16, 1936 in Seattle, WA to Hardy and Mary Hofstad and was raised in Ketchikan, Alaska. After serving in the army in the late 1950s, Hardy returned to Alaska and Commercial fishing with his father before hiring on with Alaska Railroad. After three years at Alaska RR he moved back to Washington and worked for Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement on May 31, 2001; giving Hardy a combined total of 37 years of service with the Railroad.Hardy along with his wife, Ruth, raised his family in Lynnwood. Over the years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports with his family. He especially enjoyed watching his grandsons grow up and participate in their sports and motocross. Hardy also enjoyed watching the Mariners and Seahawks. Hardy was a very selfless and generous man and had a great sense of humor. He was loved very much by the ones who he touched in his life. He will be greatly missed.He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ruth; children: Tereasa, Dawn (Tracey) Leite, and Hardy, Jr.; grandsons, Skyler and Sean; and his brother, Michael Hofstad.Per his wishes, there will be no services. A Memorial and celebration of his life will be held in June of 2010.
