Hazel Elizabeth Morris

Hazel Elizabeth Morris Dec. 5, 1921 - Dec. 13, 2020 Hazel Elizabeth Morris of Edmonds, Washington, passed away on December 13, 2020 at the age of 99. She was born in Bancroft, Iowa, to Tom and Kate Cahill. She grew up in Austin, Minnesota and attended Austin High School. Upon graduation, her adventuresome spirit led her to the Great Lakes and a job with the Great American Cruise Ship Lines. Shortly after, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Radioman First Class stationed in San Francisco and Honolulu where she was one of only a few women serving in the role. At war's end, she attended the University of Wisconsin on the Gl Bill and graduated with a degree in Journalism. It was here where she met her future husband, Dale. In 1949, Dale and Hazel were married in Portland, Oregon which marked the beginning of a life of deep love and devotion for each other. After starting a family in the Midwest, they moved to Washington State in 1968 and Hazel maintained a successful career as a real estate agent until the distinguished age of seventy-two. Hazel was a devout member of Holy Rosary Parish in Edmonds for 52 years and she proudly shared her faith with her children and grandchildren. She also took great pride in her Celtic heritage and took many trips to Ireland. Friends and family fondly remember Hazel’s trademark sense of humor and positive outlook each day and their lives are better because of her. Hazel is preceded in death by her husband, Dale; brothers, Jim, John, and Harold; and sister, Mary. Hazel is survived by her children: Greg (Wanita), Sue (Mitch), and Steve (Julie); and 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A funeral mass for family will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church followed by Interment at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery.
