James (Jim) Michael Belz, 63, of Edmonds, was born in Perham, Minn. to Dolores and Harold Belz on May 20, 1947. He grew up in small towns in Minn. and North Dakota, graduated from Fertile High School in 1965 and attended the University of Minnesota, receiving a BS degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1969. Shortly after, he started his 37-year career with the Boeing Commercial Airline Company. In 1972 he married his wife of 38 years, Linda. They had one daughter, Sara. In 1998 he received a MS in Technology Management from the University of Minn. Jim retired from Boeing in 2005 as Director of Sales for the South Pacific and parts of Asia. He was devoted to his family and also loved spending time in his woodshop, attending Minnesota Twins spring training in Florida, and enjoying friends and conversation over a good glass of wine. In addition to his wife and daughter, Jim is survived by his sister Mary (Peter) Janzen, Winnipeg, Manitoba; brothers William (Nicole) Belz, Maple Grove, Minn, and Joseph Belz, Pelican Rapids, Minn; and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Friday, October 15, from 9-11am at Becks Funeral Home, 405 - 5th Ave. S., Edmonds, followed by a Memorial Service at Maplewood Presbyterian Church, 19523 84th Ave W, Edmonds, at 2:00 pm. A memorial scholarship fund has been established in Jims name at the University of Minnesota, Dept. of Aerospace Engineering.
