Born November 1927 in Oak Park, Il. to J.W. and Edna Taylor. Passed away on August 11, 2017.Jean always said she enjoyed the best Growing up of any child, anywhere in the world, in Broadview, IL. After graduating from high school in1947, she went on to graduate from Nursing school at Wesley Memorial Hospital, Northwestern University class of 1950.In 1952 she married the love of her life, Douglas MacKenzie, and together they came to Seattle where they eventually settled in North Ballard. They purchased their home in 1954 and she lived there until the day she died. The majority of her professional nursing career was spent working at Ballard Community Hospital and eventually Swedish Medical Center/Ballard. She worked there for almost 40 years and was extremely proud of her affiliation and her friends from the hospital.When not working and after retirement Jean enjoyed her home, her garden, her knitting, her birds and above all else, her friends. Always the first to help another, she was the nurse to at least half of the neighborhood and driver to the other half.Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Douglas, in 2015. She is survived by her three children, Heather Burns (Tom). Ian MacKenzie (Nina), and Bonnie Hart (Martin). Her six grandchildren, Elizabeth Powers (Paul), Shane Keefer (Meghan), Alex (A-Man) MacKenzie, Madison(Madi) MacKenzie, Anthony(Antz) Hart, and Brenna(Bren) Hart.
