Jennifer Marie Perrow-Thorning
Oct 14, 1972 — Jul 11, 2021
On July 11, 2021 Jennifer Marie Perrow-Thorning passed away at home in Shoreline WA surrounded by family after a prolonged battle with cancer. Her cheerful enthusiasm and thoughtfulness were constants throughout her life. Jennifer worked for many years as a Paraeducator for the Shoreline School District, hitting her stride in the transition program working with special needs young adults on life and work skills. Few were more effective with special education students than Jennifer. She had just the right mixture of empathy, insight, imagination, humor, and persistence. As an active member of Hillwood Church in Shoreline, she enjoyed their fellowship and support, as she did with friends and church family formed through her many years of church membership in churches in the Lynnwood-Everett area. Jennifer enjoyed small groups, retreats, and served in several capacities from missions to outreach to serving in several roles in the churches she attended through the years. Jennifer was born in Seattle on October 14, 1972 to Liv and Ron Perrow of Issaquah. Although she spent most of her school years in Mukilteo, she spent a substantial amount of time living and working in the Winthrop area as well. She attended Wenatchee Valley, Everett, and Seattle Central Community Colleges majoring in ASL sign language – a skill that she put to good use in her years as a paraeducator. Jenn was a real animal lover – it didn’t matter what kind. And dogs had it made in the Thorning household –they were truly family. In Winthrop, her father had horses, and Jenn took to them quickly. She was an accomplished horsewoman, and worked as a Trail Riding Guide for Sun Mountain Lodge. From her varied experiences, she acquired an excellent work ethic and inherent sense of equity that characterized her life. Jennifer was an eternal optimist – the glass was always half full. She touched many lives in many ways, but her influence has been felt most profoundly by her sons who realize how big an impact she had on their lives. She is survived by her husband, Rob Thorning, sons Tyler Perrow, Tyler Thorning, Sean Thorning, mother Liv (Jim) Shelden of Marysville, father Ron (Crystal) Perrow of Winthrop, sister Victoria (Ottis) Buzzard of Wasilla AK, and her aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews, as well as many relatives in Norway. A memorial service will be held at Hillwood Church, 19350 Firlands Way North, Shoreline WA 98133 on Saturday, August 7th at 1:00 pm. Memorials may be directed to Hillwood Church, attention: The Dominican Republic Fund, or to a charity of your choice.
