After living an adventurous life, Chef John W. Satko, CEC, 48, of Edmonds, WA, passed away on January 28, 2013. He was born on May 14, 1964 in Seattle, WA; the son of David and Bette (nee Bryant) Satko. Chef John was inspired by watching and spending time with his Grandmother cooking while he was growing up in Seattle, Washington. He has traveled, worked and studied culinary arts within the United States, Europe, The Caribbean and Thailand. He has been distinguished as a Certified Executive Chef (CEC) by the American Culinary Federation in 2002 with an extensive portfolio. His personal philosophy of Knowledge, Skills, and Desire is incorporated into his work and daily life. The values of the Columbia Hospitality were also those that he live by: Enthusiasm, Respect, Creativity, Honesty, Sincerity, and Accountability. Chef John enjoys being with his family, outdoors and spends many hours in his fresh fruit and vege garden. He loves to share and cook his real foods from his garden with friends and family. Traveling has always been an important aspect in Chef Johns life and he loves a good adventure. Chef Satko is survived by his wife of 9 years, Shelby (nee Glossip) Satko; children: JonniLynn (Billy) Prince, Edward Joseph, and Noah Satko; grandchildren EmmaLynn Derbyshire Kennadie Prince; his siblings: Gayle Briere, Bob (Chris) Satko, Paul (Donna) Satko, Brenda Satko Julie Satko; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents Paul Mollie Satko.
