Joseph Bruce Dunne

Joseph Bruce Dunne was born on February 12, 1927 in Spokane, Washington to Pierce and Julia Dunne. He was the youngest child of a family of four, and the only son. As a young child he was fondly known as “Joe B”. In 1960, he moved his family from Spokane to Seattle where he spent the remainder of his life. In 1950, Joe married the love of his life Catherine Jean Lynch. Together they had eight children, Leo (Colleen), Dan (Kristy), Tom (Vicki), Kathy, Theresa, Julie (Gerald), Steve and MaryRose. Seven grandchildren: Dominique, Jessica, Nathan, Rhea, Danielle, Jace, and Grace; and 15 great grandchildren: Aminah, Gerald Joseph, Zanayah, Hazayah, Ezekiel, Amir, Guillermo, Alejandro, Mikah, Izabella, Liyah, Nathan Jr, Abraham, Harlow, and Immanuel. Joe had serval nieces and nephews who adored him. They were married for 70 years, Joe’s dedication to Jean was evident by the memories they shared raising a loving family. Joe attended Gonzaga University, where he studied theology and business courses. Joe’s passions were his family and his home. He would have two and three jobs at a time, raising eight children, and always fixing up a large house. His career in sales spanned over 40 years; during this time, he had his own busines “Done Rite Janitorial”. He demonstrated his work ethic requiring his children to work alongside him in the janitorial business. His true passion was being a servant to others. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus and St Vincent De Paul. His service to others was passed on and emphasized to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He believed there was no greater gift than to serve others in need and serve God with grace, gratitude, and humility. In 1982, Joe was ordained as a Catholic Deacon and would serve in various Catholic parishes. Joe’s passion was service to others and God. His calling to the ministry was to provide the Gospel and guidance to the homeless and incarcerated population(s). His ministries included Operation Nightwatch, Snohomish County Jail, and St. Vincent De Paul. Joe’s later years were spent with his wife Jean, visits and celebrations with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Joe would be found with his bible and his rosary and never failed in his daily prayers. He spent his last days at peace with his wife, servant to others and God and achieving his goal of being in the Kingdom of Heaven May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
