Judie McDowell died at the age of 78 in Mountlake Terrace, Washington. Judie was born in West Bend, Iowa, to Philo and Hazel Gerber. Judie spent most of her adult life in Placerville, California. She graduated from El Dorado High School in Placerville, California in 1960. She worked at title companies in escrow. Upon retiring she moved to Washington to spend more time with her family. Judie was a published poet and enjoyed writing fictional stories and historical articles. She enjoyed gardening, floral arranging, music and dancing. Judie is predeceased by her husband James Donald McDowell, parents Philo and Hazel Gerber, brother Jack Gerber and sister Patricia Gerber. She is survived by children Delissa Burch of Bremerton, Washington, Deborah Johnson and son-in-law Mark Johnson of Brier Washington; as well as grandchildren Krista Gutierrez, Ashley Burch, Hamlin Burch, Megan Johnson and Kendall Johnson. She also had 5 great grandchildren. Thank you to the kind nurses of Continuum Care Hospice who advocated for her comfort and showed kindness to her family in her last days. Judie’s final resting place will be at Union Cemetery in Placerville, California. In Judie's honor, please make donations to the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation.
