Judith Arlene Smith

Jan 6, 1948 — Jun 29, 2021

Judith Arlene Smith was born in 1948 in Seattle, Washington to Jud and Arlene Regis and died of natural causes on June 29, 2021. Judy attended Our Lady of the Lake School and Blanchet High School and furthered her studies at Seattle University, where she majored in English. There she met Doug Smith and the couple have been happily married for 51 years. Judy was the only daughter of six siblings and was a devoted mother to her four boys, which required a unique blend of toughness and street smarts. She had them in spades but was also the heart and soul of this Italian-Irish (or Garlic-Gaelic) Catholic family. She is survived by Doug and her four sons, Bradley, Bryan, Kelly and Daniel, their spouses and 20 grandchildren as well as her brothers Daniel, Michael, Terry, Jim, John and numerous relatives and friends. Judy devoted herself to her immediate and extended family but looked for new challenges, becoming a paralegal and working for the “little guy” in family law matters. She was an active member of St. John Vianney Parish in Kirkland and assisted in marriage encounter weekends and marriage preparation classes for engaged couples preparing to be married in the Church. She loved traveling for the experiences and companionship. She suffered a stroke 6 ½ years ago and emulated the Regis family motto to “Never Give Up.” Before and after the stroke her smile could light up a room. A viewing and Rosary is set for July 6, 2021 at 6 PM at Beck’s Funeral Home in Edmonds, WA. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on July 7, 2021, 11 AM, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Kirkland followed by a Graveside at Holyrood Cemetery, Shoreline, WA. Many thanks to her caregivers at Swedish and Evergreen hospitals and those at Equestrian Crossings Therapy for whom we will be forever grateful for the care and encouragement shown over the last six years.
