Lloyd Arnold Reigstad

120% Lloyd Arnold Reigstad passed away February 21, 2014 peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Lloyd began his life in Canton SD, born November 16, 1925 to Norwegian immigrant parents Olaf and Swanhild. Lloyd grew up with three loving sisters Alice, Edith and Opal. Early life was hard for the Reigstad family. When Lloyd was 14 his father was struck by a truck and sustained heavy injuries; he was institutionalized for the rest of his life. Lloyds mother filled the spot as income provider but leaned heavily on Lloyd to help out. This is where the theme of hard work and responsibility was kindled in Lloyd. Two of Lloyds sisters moved to San Francisco and at age 14 Lloyd, his mother and other sister followed them out. At 15 Lloyd moved to Seattle to live with relatives. Lloyd joined the Navy at age 18 and served 6 years. Lloyd began his career at American Can Company in 1953. In 1954 he married coworker Barbara Farr and her 4 year old daughter from a previous marriage, Gayle Ann. Lloyd retired in 1982 and turned his attention to family, fishing, gardening, and bowling. Lloyd loved keeping his car spotless, his lawn the greenest and in tip-top shape (always mowing in at least two directions) and having the absolute latest in lawn mowers. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents and sisters; father and mother in law Ted and Helen Farr and sister and brother in law Ruth and Carl Gohm. Lloyd is survived by his wife, best friend and love of his life of 60 years, Barbara; his loving daughter and shining star Gayle Ann (Reigstad) Szalay and her husband Greg; cousins John Sabo and Marion Felstrom; the Herrmann family of Mountlake Terrace; granddaughter Jennifer and husband Brent; great granddaughters Alexandra and Elizabeth; the Anthony/Ertl Family of Mukilteo; granddaughter Kristin and her husband Danny; great grandchildren Gray and Cole; nieces Barbara, Connie and Janice; nephews Jim and Tom Gohm and Donald Powlauski; numerous grandnieces and grandnephews, including Kym (Gohm) Leroy; oldest and best friend Arne Feltstrom; grandson in Law Robert Ertl; friends Michael Mick Odell and Kyler Shaw. Lloyd was a great man, a decent human being, hardworking and liked by all.
