Mable Nettie Kallstrom

Jul 15, 1927 — Feb 21, 2015

Sadly, Mable N. Kallstrom passed away February 21, 2015. She was 87 years young, still enjoying traveling and doing what she loved. She experienced a full life with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren the joys of her life. Born July 15, 1927 in Chehalis, WA, Mable lived through the great depression. Her pantry and freezer were always well stocked! She moved to Edmonds with her family and met the love of her life, Bob, at the soda fountain. They were married in 1946. Both were avid skiers, pioneering the slush cup at Mt. Baker with their friends. She met Helen Keller while she was secretary at a Seattle School, and worked to put her children through college. After retirement, dad mom became snowbirds; traveling to Yuma, AZ, for the winter months then traveling to Alaska in the summers to clam and fish for salmon. One summer she caught a 63 lb. King salmon which took 30 minutes to land and 10 minutes later hooked a 56 lb. King. She told dad if another fish bites this line, Im throwing my damn pole in! In addition, Mable loved to go on cruises, seeing many parts of the world. She had 100+ days at sea! She was also very active in the Granville Grange, where she was the secretary for many years. Mable is survived by her sister, Dorothy, niece Susan, son Jay (Jacque), daughter Kim (Patti), grandchildren Jeff (Alison) and Lisa (Jacob), great grandchildren Braden, Lucy and Chloe, and her adopted child Neva (toy poodle). Mable was preceded in death by her husband Bob, son Karl and grandson Mike. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of Snohomish County.
