Margaret Ann Joyce
Dec 19, 1930 — Aug 16, 2015
Margaret Peggy Ann (Martenson) Joyce was born on Dec. 19, 1930 in Seattle, Washington and died surrounded by her family on August 16, 2015 in Edmonds, Washington. She was 84 years old. Peggy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Arnold A. Joyce; her two children: Peggy (Michael) Weirauch of Edmonds, Arnold Bob Joyce of Edmonds, grandchildren Savannah Steffen and Max Weirauch, and step granddaughter Steffani Weirauch. Margaret was the daughter of Carl Martenson and Clara (Lipke) Martenson. She was preceded in death by her older brother Carl Martenson, Jr. She grew up in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, graduating from Ballard High School in 1949. Upon graduation from high school Margaret attended the Edison Technical School and taught dance lessons at the Trianon Ballroom in Downtown Seattle. While teaching dance lessons she met Arnold Joyce and they married in 1950. Together they established their first residence in Edmonds, Washington. They continued to live together in Edmonds for 64 years. Peggy assisted Arnold with his career in commercial gillnet fishing in the Puget Sound and Alaskan waters. Over time they also accumulated rental properties which they managed together for many years. Peggy was a wonderfully caring, loving, wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family. A special thanks to the staff at Rosewood Courte in Edmonds, for providing such comfort and care to Peggy and her family during the last few months of her life.
