Martha Adeline Becker
Mar 29, 1918 — May 9, 2015
Born to Gatch Lucas and Sarah Lucas (nee McElwee) on March 29, 1918 in Lewistown, MT and died May 9, 2015 in Edmonds, WA. The fifth of 10 children, she grew up on land claimed by her parents under the Enlarged Homestead Act of 1909. Mom left home at the age of 14 years to work for her room and board in Lewistown so she could attend high school. After Pearl Harbor was bombed she moved to Los Angeles where she found work at Lockheed. Her 3 younger sisters eventually joined her. When the war ended, mom married Jerry Becker and together they moved first to Alaska, back to Montana, and finally settled in Seattle where they raised 4 children and lived so much better than they ever dreamed they would. Her parents, 4 brothers, 4 sisters, and her beloved grandson Adam predecease mom. Shes survived by her siblings Mary and Harry, and her children Mike (Tracy), Don (Nancy), Jim, and Pam (Jim Roberts). She also leaves behind her 8 much-loved grandchildren and was so pleased to be a great-grandmother of 8. In memory of mom, please smile and say kind words to an elderly person. A donation to your local food bank would be a fitting tribute to someone of her generation who had so little for so long. A service will be held on May 15, 2015 at 2:00pm at Becks Funeral Home, 405 5 th Ave S, Edmonds, WA.
