Mary Rae Ford

Dec 27, 1926 — Dec 16, 2013

A longtime resident of Seattle, Mary Rae passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 86. She was the beloved wife of the late Ray T. Ford for 53 years and devoted mother of Melissa, Gretchen, Michael and Timothy (Terry). She was grandmother to Baird Ransom and great grandmother to his sons, Andrew and Simon. Two of her brothers, Jim and Jack Baird preceded her in death. She is survived by her third brother Patrick Baird, nephew Jeff Baird and niece Mary Ann Parker. Born in Medford, Wisconsin, Mary Rae had a wonde laugh, keen sense of humor and welcoming smile. She was very outgoing and even if she did not know you, you were never a stranger to her for very long. Her quick wit, coupled with her love of people, made her many friends throughout her life. Whether you met her on one of her many Palm Springs vacations or at the grocery store, you never forgot this truly remarkable person. Her kind soul and love of life put everyone at ease and made each person feel they were the most important person in the world. Once you knew her, you always wanted to be around her. She will be sadly missed by all of us who shared our lives with her. We wish to thank Dr. Brad Volk and Group Health Hospice (especially Margaret and Anna) for providing dignity, comfort and love to our dear Mother, Sister and Friend, Mary Rae, in her time of need. Announcement: In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to St. Matthews Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
