Mary Joan Valley

Mary J. Valley passed away peacefully on March 12, 2014 at the age of 91. She was born on February 4, 1923 as the oldest of six in Atkinson, Nebraska where she grew up on a farm. After graduating from High School Mary moved west to work in the war movement and settled in Bremerton, Washington where she met her husband Al Valley. Together they raised three children and moved to Lynnwood in 1961 where she would live until her passing. Once in Lynnwood she would start her career at Fredrick and Nelsons where she would work until her retirement. In her spare time she and Al would love to ballroom dance where they met many lifelong friends. A few years after Als passing in 1996 Mary met Jay Rust who she would spend the last 15 years of her life with as she took up bridge, becoming a quite accomplished player, remaining active in her church, St. Thomas More, and spending time with her friends and family. She is preceded in death by her husband Al, son Larry and daughter Linda. She is survived by her son Bruce, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
