Pamela Karen Buckley — A Life Remembered

Pamela Karen Buckley passed away on September 29, 2026. She was born on February 20, 1947, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Howard and Kathryn Dudley, the third of four children. Growing up in a Navy family meant frequent moves, but those early travels shaped her resilience and curiosity. The Dudley’s eventually settled in Edmonds, Washington, where Pamela graduated from Edmonds High School in 1965. She continued her education at Western Washington State College, earning her degree in 1969 and started work as an English teacher in Sequim.

In 1970, Pamela married Norman Allen Buckley, beginning a partnership that would span more than five decades. When Norman rejoined the Navy in 1971, the couple moved to Alameda, California, where their first son was born. During this time, Pamela served as president of the USS Coral Sea wives club, supporting families and strengthening the community around the ship. The Navy next took them to Hawaii, where their second son arrived, before the family settled permanently in Bothell, Washington, in 1979.

Although trained as a teacher, Pamela discovered her true professional calling in accounting. She began at Pemco Insurance and went on to work for several private companies, including the Mental Health Housing Foundation. Ultimately, she retired after twelve years as the account manager at EnviroIssues, where she was known for her precision, dedication, and steady presence. After retirement she continued to apply her accounting skills as a board member for the Mental Housing Foundation, until 2023.

Pamela was an avid reader and an enthusiastic traveler. Together with Norman, she visited every continent, collecting memories from dozens of countries. Two journeys stood out above the rest: a safari in Kenya, and walking among the penguins in Antarctica, moments she cherished deeply. She also remained closely connected to her Edmonds High School classmates and played a key role in organizing several reunions, keeping friendships alive across decades.

Pamela is survived by her husband Norman, their sons Jeffrey and Jason, and her grandson Rainier.
