Paul Chevalier Maurice

Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. (John: 12-24) Our loving and caring father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully, on July 11, 2015 at the age of 93. His presence was felt by many in so many different ways, memories of him in the roles that he played either in business or pleasure. He left a lasting tribute of a man who was self taught in many areas of his life. The consummated perfectionist and a self giving person to others will be his legacy. Dad was born in Annandale, Minnesota on May 8, 1922 to Leon and Anna. He is preceded in death and is joined with his wife, Faith, of 66 years, grandson and great grand child along with brothers Basil, Neil, David, Warren and Sister Jean along with his parents. He is survived by his children; Leon, Tom, Kathleen, Joe, Dennis, Judy, Maureen, Tim, Colleen, Jerome, Brian, Mary Anne, Edward and Terry, 33 grand children and 28 great grand children along with his brother Kenny and sister Dorothy. aul enlisted in the Navy during World War II and served his country in Alaska and the South Pacific. After the war he served in many capacities as an active parish member of St. Margarets, St. Lukes, and Holy Rosary (Edmonds) Catholic Churches. He likewise served as a lifetime member of the Catholic War Veterans and Father Vincent Post of King County as Commander for the State of Washington and it national post. He continued in his service as a member with Serra International as council President of the Seattle Council and followed up with other council members in establishing the Sno-King council with Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He served in leadership roles with BSA Catholic Committee in Scouting, as CYO Baseball and Soccer coach, Parents Club President for St. Margarets, St. Edwards Seminary, ODea High School, St. Lukes and Holy Cross High Schools. His career covered 45 years as Marine Cargo Superintendent for MTMTS Department of the Army for 33 years and Seattle Stevedore (SSA) and Relief Arbitrator (PMA) for 12 years and as a member of its national affiliation NARFE. He spent a portion of the last 6 years split between Clearbrook Assisted Living Center in Silverdale, WA and his last days at The Lodge in Gig Harbor, WA. Special attention was provided by the staff at The Lodge and Franciscan Hospice. Our special thanks go out to each of them for their wonderful care that they provided for him. Recitation of the Rosary will be Thursday at 7:00 p.m. July 23, 2015 at Becks Funeral Home 405 5 th Ave. S. Edmonds, WA 98020. The Funeral Liturgy of the Mass will be celebrated on Friday July 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 630 7 th Ave. N. Edmonds, WA 98020 with burial to follow at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery, 205 NE 205 th Street, Shoreline, WA 98155.
