Philip A Erickson

MCPO Philip A. Erickson, 77, died February 23rd, 2017 at Swedish Hospital in Edmonds WA, after a short illness with metastatic melanoma. Phil was born December 25, 1939 in Gardner, Massachusetts, the son of Andrew E. and Taimi Erickson of Hubbardston, MA. He was the fourth of five children.He joined the US Navy after graduating from Gardner High School in 1957. Philip married Lillian Genaitis of Gardner in 1962. They lived in MA and TX prior to being transferred by the Navy to NAS Sandpoint, Seattle in 1969. Phil and Lil bought their home in Bothell in 1970, transferred to NAS Glenview Illinois in 1974; returned to their Bothell home in 1977. Master Chief Erickson retired from NAS Whidbey Island in 1979. He then received his BA in Business Administration from the University of WA in 1981 and MBA from Seattle University. Mr. Erickson was employed as a high level finance executive for multiple organizations such as the Eastside Catholic High School, the Boys and Girls Clubs of King County, and Bastyr University, where he retired in 2005. Philip was an active member of Corpus Christi Church and past Secretary of the Holy Name Society, Chapter leader of the John Birch Society, 32 year member of the Lynnwood Elks Lodge, the Fleet Reserve Association, and a Republican National and State Delegate. Phil enjoyed staying active throughout life, camping and fishing, motorhome adventures, long dog walks, gardening, basketball/ badminton/croquet with his children and grandchildren, poker nights with friends, Mariners games, and traveling with his wife and family. Phil Erickson is survived by his wife, Lil, two sons, Philip John, Kirkland WA, Paul, League City TX, his daughter, Ann, Seattle WA, and eight grandchildren Daniel, Rachel, Nicole, Sarah, Christina, Alexandria, Oliver, and Cooper. He is survived by one sister, Joanne Corcoran of New Hampshire, and many nieces and nephews. ; ; His Funeral mass will be held Saturday, March 4th at 10a.m. At Corpus Christi Church, 204 6th Ave. N., Edmonds. Reception to follow from 12p.m.-3p.m. At the Elks Lodge, 6620 196th St. SW, Lynnwood. The wake is at Becks Funeral Home, 405 Fifth Ave. S., Edmonds on Friday, March 3rd from 6p.m.-9p.m. With rosary to commence at 8:15p.m. Burial will be at St. Johns Cemetery in Gardner, Mass.
