Rita Lillian Glynn

Rita was born in Warwick, Rhode Island, on January 13, 1944. She was the youngest child of Mary and Richard Glynn. She is survived by her brother, Ray Glynn of Missouri, his wife, Vicki, and many nephews, nieces and friends. After graduating from Oak Beach High School, she made her way to Seattle. Rita worked in many professions and attended Seattle Pacific University and obtained her Bachelors degree in education. She worked for one year in Moses Lake before coming to Everett Public Schools. She taught at Woodside and Penny Creek Elementary Schools until her retirement in 2009. While teaching in the Everett Public Schools, Rita obtained her Masters degree of education from City University. Ritas family was very important to her. She often shared many stories about her family with her close friends and neighbors. Rita and her brother, Dick, were also foster parents to many young boys over 12 years while living in Kenmore. Baseball was a life-long love of Rita. She and Dick coached Little League for over 30 years. Rita was also involved in Special Olympics. She enjoyed Huskie sports, the Seattle Mariners, and was an avid Red Sox fan. Through her seasonal jobs, Rita made many friendships. McCaw Hall, Princess Cruise Lines, and working at Safeco Field created many opportunities for Rita to meet new people and explore her passions of music, traveling, and baseball. Ritas many friendships at her two Everett elementary schools enriched her life and the lives of those she touched there. Her colleagues, students, and their parents filled her life with mutual support and live-long learning. Her humor and zest for living were contagious. Rita enjoyed reading, traveling, concerts, plays, and being with people throughout her life.
